Obtaining insurance can be difficult and expensive if you have a disease. Obesity and diabetes are just two of the most common situations that can send insurance premiums soaring, or even prevent you from getting insurance at all.

A recent survey of more than 1,000 people, many of whom had been cancer free for years, found that more than one third had been offered premiums normal pace, while six percent were denied coverage. The study also found that cancer patients are usually responsible for two or even three times the normal premium for travel insurance. A report of cancer charity that hundreds of patients with cancer of former contact with it every month to complain about their insurance companies charge higher premiums trip, no matter how long you had your treatment.

Even people with well-controlled diabetes or are only moderately overweight may find that they pay much higher premiums for life insurance, critical illness insurance, mortgage protection and even car insurance.

The key to getting a good deal on insurance if you are overweight, diabetic, have cancer or suffer from other diseases, is to go to a specialist broker. This will probably find you a much better deal than going to the standard insurance companies directly. Specialized brokers are not only able to obtain multiple insurance quotes, they also have access to specialized companies that can provide coverage where the main insurance companies can not.
